Benzoin Resinoid

Benzoin resinoid is made from benzoin resin, which comes from Styrax trees native mainly to parts of Southeast Asia (often associated with regions like Sumatra and surrounding areas in historical trade descriptions). Historically, benzoin resin was used primarily as a fragrant incense and aromatic resin in religious ceremonies and perfumery, prized for its strong, warm scent and its ability to help fragrances linger. Over time, it also became a staple in apothecary traditions as a comforting, resinous herbal preparation. In modern natural formulations, benzoin resinoid is most valued as a balsamic, vanillic “fixative” style ingredient that adds depth to scent and supports the overall sensory richness of a formula.
