Panthenol
Panthenol, also known as provitamin B5, is the stable form of pantothenic acid, a naturally occurring vitamin found in plants, animals, and many whole foods that was identified during vitamin research in the early 20th century. Historically, vitamin B5 became recognized as an essential nutrient, and panthenol was later developed as a nature-identical ingredient for use in personal care formulations. Today, panthenol is widely used in all-natural lotions, creams, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, and skin care products, where it is valued for its conditioning properties and compatibility with plant-based formulations.
